About the Hockey Club Lugano

The Hockey Club Lugano is one of the most renowned and successful sports clubs in Switzerland. Since the 1985/1986 season, when the playoffs were introduced, it has won seven national titles, reached another six playoff finals, the final round of the European Cup twice – once at the Euroleague final and once at the Super Six 2007, the Spengler Cup finals twice (1991, 2015), and secured third place in the superfinal of the Continental Cup twice.

The Hockey Club Lugano could be defined as the city of Lugano and canton Ticino’s modern-day calling card.Officially founded on February 11, 1941, in 2021 it will celebrate its 80th anniversary.Regardless of the results achieved by its first team, which is clearly the Club’s driving force, the Hockey Club Lugano is an important presence that is deeply rooted in the fabric of Lugano, Ticino, and Switzerland.

For example, its share subscription campaign attracted over a thousand different shareholders, including fans,  public and private bodies.The social function performed in particular by the Youth Section of the Hockey Club Lugano, which now has over 400 members in different age categories and 9 professional coaches, is accordingly recognized and appreciated.

During the regular season, the Hockey Club Lugano records an average match attendance of about 6,000 people, while during the playoffs, spectator numbers for this sold-out games are around 7,200. There are currently over 4,500 subscribers.
